Since its debut in 2013, Cambourne Village College has been recognised as a Leading Edge and Teaching School and has received an Outstanding grade from Ofsted.
Our focus on delivering the best possible arts, music, and cultural activities has contributed to our success.
The Cambourne neighbourhood has very little access to cultural and recreational opportunities and no place dedicated to the arts.
Our objective is to transform opportunities for our students and the larger community to view, experience, and participate in the highest calibre of art, music, and cultural activities by building on our success in offering great arts and culture.
In order to do this, we plan to create a brand-new arts and performance venue and acquire financing for the hiring of a dedicated Cambourne arts development specialist.
The mission of creating excellence in music and the performing arts for Cambourne and beyond, adding a richer cultural dimension to the lives of our students and the expanding neighbourhood, is at the heart of our ethos.
The Town and County Councils helped Cambourne Village College construct a sizable performance hall.
The initial funding only covered the cost of building the halls, so the college established a charitable trust and has raised 145,000 so far for the fit-out.
By September 2021, the hall should be furnished with top-notch tiered seating, complete stage, lighting, audio, and extra funding from the Cam Academy Trust and the College, allowing 350 spectators to enjoy musical and theatrical performances.
Now, our goal is to establish the town's Community Arts Officer position and expand the locals' access to the arts.
The chart below breaks down the construction and furnishing of the new hall into three phases.
Phases 1 and 2 of fundraising are now over, with money successfully raised to outfit the hall as a versatile performance space with premium retractable tiered seating, a directors box, and staging.
In order to run a community cinema and host a variety of professional arts events, we must fund the last $100,000 needed to construct a cinema projector and screen, lighting rigs, and an audio system.
In order to offer a larger film programme beginning in 2023, we ultimately hope to outfit a second, smaller hall on the College campus for cinema.
