From the Garston Adventure Playground
Approximately 40 years ago, volunteers, parents, and locals launched the Summer Playscheme on Garston Park that would eventually become Garston Adventure Playground.
After a number of years of playschemes, it became obvious that the kids needed a permanent play area that they could use year-round rather than only in the summer.

With help of funding from Central Government and a lot of hard work, work on Garston Adventure Playground began in 1978.
It was inaugurated by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in 1980.
Since then with the help of local community, Garston Adventure Playground raised the necessary funds, and bought the land of British Rail.
In 1976, local parents and the community operated a summer play programme on Garston Park that eventually evolved into Garston Adventure Playground.
Construction on Garston Adventure Playground commenced in 1978 when the site and financing were secured.
This led to us being featured on the television programme on Red Nose Day in March 2003.
With their help, celebrities and local community the playground saw the kitchen and junior play area being refurbished and the creation of our Garden.
