Dove House is a charity that provides care and support to people and their families in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire who have a life-limiting disease. Since its establishment in 1980, both on our inpatient facility and in the community, we have grown to offer a wide range of specialised services.
We regularly go outside the box and look at areas that would not only connect with our principles but also create sustainable income in the future to help us pay for these services. The idea for Little Owls was first discussed in 2015, and we opened our doors and welcomed our first students in May 2016.
In the same building as Ainthorpe Primary School on Willerby Road, Little Owls @ Ainthorpe is a brand-new facility. Although the nursery is totally independent, a good working relationship with the primary school is advantageous. The structure and its amenities, which include three sizable outdoor play areas, were specifically created for the nursery.
At Little Owls, we believe that every kid is an individual, and as a result, we work closely with parents and other caregivers to get to know as much as we can about each child. We are especially interested in finding out about their unique requirements, preferences, personality traits, and routines because these things help us support the children's transition to the nursery and improve the calibre of the working relationships that form between our kids and our practitioners.
These connections help kids feel confident in themselves, which helps them form connections with other kids in the environment and grow throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
