The Old Hunts, Education committee created this school as one of the first post-war institutions.
The freshly constructed housing development was taken into account when building the school.
With 306 students and 9 teachers, the school began operations.
When it initially opened in July 1961, the swimming pool was among the earliest in the county.
The first sex education programme for elementary schools was introduced by Anglia Television in 1969, and Southfields was impressed with how this contentious topic had been handled and utilised in the school.
Southfields was no longer constrained by the constraints of the selection examinations in 1970, the so-called "Year of Liberation," when the county implemented comprehensive education for kids.
The school has had the good fortune over the years to work with a fantastic team of committed teachers, employees, and those who work in the school environment, supportive parents, and wonderful kids.
One of the first computer suites in the county was established by Mr. Sutherland, who also undertook building projects and modernised the school to see the school through the 1990s.
This is a cheerful school, Mr. Stephenson stated in his 21-year head teacher report written in November 1974. Time has not changed this; the school is and will be a building full of vitality and excitement to inquire.
We have succeeded in achieving this objective and anticipate having grandparents, parents, and kids who attended Southfields School in the future.
Reading about the school's history has motivated me to set goals that are on par with those of the previous head teachers.
