The time we spend in education is extremely formative; these are the years that shape the mind, the heart and the personality. The formation of young people who have the virtues of character to become leaders in the adult world is at the top of our agenda. Leadership is simply 'making good things happen'. So everything which goes on at St Edward's, in the classroom, on the sports field, in the recital room, on an outward bound expedition, is focused upon helping young men and women become equipped with the radical vision, robust qualifications, and strength of character, to change the world for the better as they live out discipleship of Jesus Christ, being 'men and women for others'. Herein lies the meaning of our school motto, 'Courage through Faith' (from Psalm 27).
St Edward's College is a Catholic academy (an independent school funded directly by the government, so free of charge to attend), part of the Edmund Rice family of schools, founded by the Christian Brothers and following the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice. The College selects 20% of its pupils on the basis of musical aptitude, and is the choir school to Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, many of its pupils involved in leading choral worship there week by week. The remaining places are allocated according to our admissions policy to young people of all abilities who want to experience a traditional, academic curriculum within an explicitly Catholic culture.
In short, St Edward's College is a highly successful school in which young people are challenged and supported in equal measure. With excellent examination results and very high standards in music and sport, it is one of the foremost Catholic schools in England.
So welcome to our website, whether you are a current or prospective parent or pupil, considering applying to join our staff, or simply a casual enquirer. I hope it will convey something of the down-to-earth openness and warmth of all members of the St Edward's College family, the appetite for doing things well, the determination to succeed and to help others succeed and, above all, a sense that in this school our approach to the world, present and future, is infused with the gospel virtues of faith, hope and love.

Amazing school, my child enjoying the life of a student. The teachers are very supportive, resulting to my child gaining self confidence. Congratulations to all that are involved in building this extra ordinary school in Liverpool!!!
As a parent, I couldn't be happier with our experience at St. Edward's College. The commitment to academic excellence, combined with a nurturing and supportive environment, has truly made a difference in my child's growth. The dedicated teachers go above and beyond to inspire and engage students, fostering a love for learning that will last a lifetime. The vibrant community and numerous extracurricular activities provide a well-rounded experience, helping students develop both academically and personally....
Very good school. Teachers are very nice. This is a catholic so be aware that religion and religious practices are a very important part of this school and its daily life.
It seems a.very beautiful school. Open day was great. My children loved it. Well organised. Prompt on time. The children were absolutely fantastic.
School has deteriorated rapidly under Mr Morris's leadership, with no signs of improvement. Teaching, safety and bullying are particular areas requiring attention.
