From the St Philomena's Catholic High School for Girls
When the Daughters of the Cross acquired Carshalton House in 1893, St. Philomena's School was initially founded.
The school is housed in structures that include a restored Queen Anne Mansion on 25 acres of lovely grass.
Because Christ is its cornerstone, St. Philomena's is a unique community.
The school's life should allow students to encounter Christ, and its work should be rooted on the spiritual dimension.
-.
By placing the needs and growth of students and staff first and following Christ's example, leadership in the school must reflect its Christian essence.
Every member of the community, including students and staff, should be guided by the twin themes of love for God and love for one's neighbour.
Students and teachers should be able to grow in their religion at St. Philomena's.
It ought to be an environment where students and faculty are given the flexibility and chance to consider and develop their own principles and attitudes in the context of the teachings of Christ and his Church.
The curriculum of St. Philomena's should promote excellence and accomplishment through the variety of opportunities offered, the calibre of classroom instruction, and the motivation that results from positive staff-student interactions.
Every student is equally valuable, and the curriculum should reflect this by inspiring all students to fulfil their potential and recognising and applauding their accomplishments.
To bring Christ to one another and the larger school community, St. Philomena's members should be encouraged to carry out their ministries and make the best use of their gifts.
A community like St. Philomena's cannot exist in isolation.
Every student at St. Philomena's should receive assistance and preparation for their potential roles in the community outside of school.
It is our duty to ensure that every student is ready to carry out their ministry in the Church and the larger community both now and in the future.
